Campus Safety Walk Results Released


The 3rd annual SGA Campus Safety walk was held on February 12th, 2008.

 Secretary of Student Affairs Omar McMillan has compiled the results of the walk for the campus administration.

Updated Campus Safety Report Incorporates Recently Released Numbers


The SGA Campus Safety Study has been updated to incorporate the campus crime statistics released at the end of 2007. 

The new version of the report adds an additional section which tracks the trends of the studied areas of campus crime. 


SGA Senate Sets Date for Vote on Changing the Name of UNC Charlotte


The SGA Senate has repeatedly worked throughout this year at establishing a method for dealing with the issue of changing the name of UNC Charlotte to the University of Charlotte. That method was decided upon last Thursday when the final version of the SGA Name Change Resolution was finally ratified by the Student Senate and passed on the President Ritchie.


Legal Music Downloading at UNC Charlotte

The Student Government Association of UNC Charlotte recognizes and understands the issues of illegal music downloading from its students. In the past, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has fined & sued UNC Charlotte students for downloading music illegally, thus forcing them to drop of school, and go into debt to finance legal fees.
Legal trouble is certainly not what we wish upon our students - there are many viable alternatives available to illegally downloading music that are safe and cost effective. In the 2007 - 2008 school year, the SGA Executive Cabinet researched alternative solutions to downloading music illegally - which led us to two endorsements:


Official Student Football Poll Results


More than one out of every three students (38.6%) participated in the SGA Football Poll. This information has been presented to the Chancellor, Athletic Director, and the University Board of Trustees for their interpretations and knowledge of the official student opinion. As the administration moves forward in the consideration of adding a college football team to the Charlotte 49er Athletic Department, the results of this poll will be held as the definitive opinion of the student body for 2007.
